Lavender provides direct representation, advocacy, and referrals, with a priority for serving those with low income and our LGTBQ+ youth. As LGBTQ+ people continue to experience disproportionate rates of poverty and violence, Lavender works to address the root causes of these issues through compassionate legal representation. We strive to provide a safe space for everyone in the LGBTQ+ community to access legal representation and related advocacy. Lavender is here to make sure that to the extent possible, the legal system does not serve as a barrier to those in the LGBTQ+ community. |

As a REALTOR, and a member of the queer community, I’m often asked if I know “a gay lender", or "a gay contractor", or even "what are some retail shops that are queer owned”. As much as I try, I don’t know everyone. I started thinking more about how to find people in our community who were business owners, and realized that I’m not the only person being asked. This realization made me brainstorm a bit and I came to the conclusion that we need an easily searchable directory where business owners can register their company, and consumers can easily search the information of registered businesses. As this idea has grown, I have heard from so many how important and how needed this is. I’m a person who feels that community is deeply important. And supporting our community so we can grow and thrive is how we start.

DES MOINES GAY CHORUS - https://www.dmgmc.org/The Des Moines Men’s Chorus is more than a choral organization—it's a heartfelt dedication to supporting and promoting the LGBTQ+ community through the transformative medium of "music that matters."
DMGMC is a non-auditioned chorus made up of 80+ singers and welcomes all individuals, regardless of gender, who sing in the tenor and bass ranges. Within the organization, there are also two distinct small ensemble groups: HarMANY and Transcendent. HarMANY, formed in 2009, is an auditioned ensemble that celebrates the rich tapestry of voices within the LGBTQ+ community. This showcase group provides its members with unique opportunities to perform a repertoire that adds a special touch to the larger chorus's offerings. Additionally, Transcendent, another small ensemble under the DMGMC umbrella, offers an inclusive and safe space for transgender and non-binary-identifying singers. This group further contributes to the chorus's commitment to fostering a sense of belonging and musical expression for all members. |

Our programs: Annual Transgender Surgery Fund This scholarship-like program provides direct financial assistance to trans folks who cannot afford their gender-affirming surgery. HRT Access Fund This scholarship-like program provides direct financial assistance to trans folks who cannot afford their gender-affirming hormone replacement therapy (also known as "HRT.") Electrolysis Support Fund This scholarship-like program provides direct financial assistance to trans femme people in need of permanent hair removal services they cannot otherwise afford. Thrive Fund This program provides financial aid towards gender-affirming needs such as prosthetics, fertility preservation, vocal training, medical tattooing, and more. Free Chest Binders This program provides chest binders (specially-designed compression garments) to trans people who cannot otherwise afford or safely obtain them. Free Femme Shapewear This program provides shapewear (specially-designed compression underwear/gaffs) to trans femme people who cannot otherwise afford or safely obtain them. |

The organization was founded on the belief that every Trans, Nonbinary, and Gender Diverse Iowa should have access to gender-affirming care. ITMAF provides small grants to Iowans seeking this care throughout the state.

Planned Parenthood of the Heartland has served women and men of all ages since the mid-1930s. Today the agency offers a full range of quality reproductive health care services to residents in Arkansas, Iowa, Nebraska and eastern Oklahoma. These services include but are not limited to: annual checkups, contraceptives, well-woman exams, testicular cancer screenings, HIV testing, STI testing and treatment, breast exams, LGBT health care, transgender support and a wide range of educational and outreach programming. |

The AIDS Project of Central IowaThe AIDS Project of Central Iowa (The Project) opened its doors in December 1991, becoming a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization in 1993. The Project has grown and is now the largest HIV/AIDS service and prevention agency in the state of Iowa. Our agency provides personalized direct care services to hundreds of people living with or affected by HIV/AIDS, as well as provides prevention services to thousands of Iowans at-risk for contracting the disease.
